Definition: Developmental delay refers to a significant lag in the
achievement of developmental milestones (physical, cognitive, social, or emotional) in comparison to typically developing children.
Causes: Genetic factors, prenatal exposure to toxins, birth complications, inadequate nutrition, environmental deprivation, or neurological disorders.
Remedies: Early intervention programs, therapy (occupational, physical, speech), educational support, and addressing underlying medical conditions.
